Long Time, No See!
4 days of no blogging! That’s the longest I have gone since I made a personal goal of mine to blog every day since this past February.
Just something happened… I started going to bed early.
Yep! This night owl started going to bed at 10pm… 11pm at the latest. So unlike me. Ever since I can remember, I’ve been a total night owl. My husband can’t understand it. How could a morning person? My body has been systematically trained courtesy of the military to be up all night and sleep during the day. For 6 Air Force years, I worked the swing and midnight shifts. And I liked it.
Then I had kids.
Man! Doesn’t that cramp a night owl’s schedule! But as a homeschooler, I got away with a bit of staying up and sleeping in because my kids love the night, too. But we have been shifting our bodies back to the real world’s time table. My kids are getting up at 9am and sometimes (God forbid!) 8am. And guess what? I have to get up, too.
Ah, well. Just means I have to rearrange my schedule and blog during the day, huh? LOL
In other exciting news…
We have seen a glimpse of spring. More like a tease. But enough that now it really is starting to act like spring. More rain than snow. I look to my little garden for glimpse of life. Soon, I hope. This year I hope to actually have a thriving garden. Not kill it as I do every year.
One thing the tease of spring did for me was make me get out our summer clothing boxes. Somehow the whole process of putting away winter clothes and getting out the summer gives me a lift in spirits. Seeing bright, cheerful clothes puts a smile on my face.
I’ve been keeping up on my daily read blogs even if I haven’t been commenting as regularly as I usually do. And I saw this…

Kate at Chronicles of a Country Girl gave me this award. Her kind and sweet words mean so much to me. If you have been visiting me for any length of time, you know I have raved about Kate in the past (like here and here).
I started blogging in 1999. Back then, it wasn’t blogging, though; instead I communicated family events through a website. If I remember correctly, it was on geocities. The earliest “snapshot” of my website I have is from 2003:

(I wished I had known about screen captures back in 1999!)
I started a website because I lived in Hawaii and was far from family. I also had the parenting philosophy called “attachment parenting” and my parents had questions. It was just easier to answer those in the form of a website. It has grown and stalled over the years but has been around nonetheless.
My oldest daughter wants her own blog and photoblog now. I can’t think of a better way to teach her writing skills than to help her build a blog of her own. And don’t tell her, but we are getting her a point-and-shoot camera for her upcoming birthday.
I’d like to pass on the award but wish to think on it a day or two. There are so many interesting and deserving blogs out there and it is 2am already! See, I’ve already slipped into my old habits!

Glad to see you back posting. Even if you had to stay up late to do it!
I think that’s great that you’re going to help your daughter with a blog.

So cool that you posted that “snapshot” from your earliest website! My gosh.
Christine, I think you are excellent. Even if you can’t stay up past 2 am anymore.
tee hee!
