Link of the Week: Blurb

Have you ever toyed with the idea of being an author? Would you like your blog posts printed in hard copy for great grandkids to read one day? Now you can with Blurb.

blurb For a reasonable price, you can turn your blog (or anything really) into a book. Blurb has free software that you download and use to choose which posts you’d like in your book. It runs on a Mac or PC and allows you to use a variety of layouts for your pages.

I haven’t done this yet, but I want to after my photography blog has 100 pages worth of photos in it. Talk about a ready-made scrapbook! I saw this while cruising some blogs. Here are some real-life examples:

The Merediths

GhostSchool

Jenius Food and Photography

Many Little Blessings (She writes a thorough review on how she obtained her Blurb book.)

I think the book looks pretty good and I have only read good reviews on people getting their Blurb books back. The price? Very reasonable. Prices start at $12.95 for a 20-page square 7×7 softcover to $159.95 for a 360-page large format landscape 13×11 hardcover book. I have read that most people bought their modest hardcovers for under $50.

So, what do you think? Would you turn your blog into a book?

  1. I’ve seen this before and I think it’s a fabulous idea! I was thinking it might be a great gift for my dad for father’s day. So many possibilities. And a hardcover for $50.

Man, I wish I had had a digital camera when my kids were little! My scans of old prints are okay, but nothing like the quality I can get from my dslr now.

  2. I would definitely be interested in doing this! Not that my writing is anything exciting, but in years to come, my grandchildren may be interested in it. Plus my pictures would be in it. And to me, that’s the important stuff. Thank you so much, Christine, for this information! I’m going to check it out.
