TGIF or What a week it has been!
It is funny how a week can be in chaos because of the weekend before.
Last weekend, we decided to steam clean our carpets. They looked nasty. Stains, dirt, faded. Ugly. I couldn’t stand them. And I couldn’t stand the thought of baby Joshua who was just a wobbling-on-the-knees away from crawling, actually crawling on this disgusting carpet. If we owned this house, I’d rip the carpet out and replace it. But we rent. All I can do is steam clean.
So I forced asked hubby to help get the steaming done. This took us until Sunday after midnight.
Monday I woke up to a house in complete chaos: no clean dishes, no menu planned for the week, and all of the little pieces of furniture from the carpeted rooms in our kitchen/dining room.
I wanted to crawl back into bed and hide.
And eat chocolate all day. Rich dark organic chocolate.
But I couldn’t.
I have kids. They wouldn’t let me hide. Drat!
So this week has been a week of getting my house in some semblance of order. Because our weekend was taken up by the steaming, I didn’t get my hours into my part-time job either. So I have been playing catch up on that as well.
Which means… I didn’t even get started on my weekly Organizing Uncluttering 2008 tasks of the week. What a fine example I am, huh?
I’ve got to get my act together because these next 2 weeks will be busy busy busy.
Mikayla has 3 birthday parties to go to (why does all her friends have to have February birthdays??) , one choir concert to perform in, and the American Girl Fashion Show to take part in. (She’ll be modeling as Samantha.
)
My To Do list for the next 2 weeks:
1. I’ve got to get 40 hours of work in over the next 2 weeks at my part-time job.
2. Write up the uncluttering task posts for Week 3 and 4 of Feb.
3. Get my taxes done if my husband’s 1099 *ever* comes in.
4. Finish my business website (probably won’t get done - this has been on the to do list for a year
)
5. Clean my bathroom. (You don’t wanna know…)
6. Find a reputable horseback riding instructor. (We promised Mikayla she could start in March.)
7. Make my family REAL meals (whatever that is).
8. Complete my photography assignments (”straight out of the camera” and “rivers”). If I have time, participate in Project: The View From Below as well.
9. Complete the tasks in the Organizing Uncluttering 2008 project.
10. All week, write in this blog posts that are witty and enlightening (or not).
11. Homeschool my kids. You know… readin’, ‘riting, and ‘rithmatic.
12. Get 36 cloth fitted diapers made for the littlest Hogue. (Gotta prewash that fabric before it can be sewn up!)
13. Clip bird’s wings, trim nails & beak.
14. Finish laundry piled up to the ceiling so husband won’t have to go “commando” anymore. (On second thought, maybe I’ll delay laundry a day… I like when hubby goes commando.
)
15. Help design oldest daughter’s pet sitting business website. Teach daughter the ins and outs of web design in the process.
18. Pray that this stinkin’ snow melts.
19. Play with my newest cool technological toy: a Palm Centro.
20. Pick up 4 books on hold at the library: Super Baby Food (Ruth Yaron), The Photoshop CS3 Book for Digital Photographers, The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers, and Photoshop Elements 4 Book for Digital Photographers (last 3 titles by Scott Kelby). Not like I own any of these software titles, but I’d like to see some techniques that may be able to be transferred over to GIMP.
21. Send interview questions to next month’s WAHM/D Business Spotlight participant on my parenting forum that I run. (YIKES! I’m overdue on this one!!
)
22. Forget #1-21 and watch my littlest Hogue take off in crawling, play with my redheaded toddler Hogue, and read with my tween Hogue.

That list has exhausted me to the point that I want to get back in bed. You have my utmost admiration–that or pity. I haven’t decided.

I think I’m going to just go grab another cup of coffee and rest. I’m exhausted reading your list… My bedroom looks a bit like your kitchen there though. We moved out some furniture, moved things around…um, two weeks ago? Stuff is still piled on the floor and needs to be put away.
