Preparing for Christmas
or AKA… Things I Needed to do for a long, long time but never got around to it
While most (crazy) people are out doing their Black Friday shopping, we’ve been cleaning and purging. In preparation for our Advent activities, I needed to know just what I had in my art cabinet. Things have been thrown in there and squirreled away, and I wasn’t exactly sure just what we had anymore. How can I prepare for family activities and know what to buy, if I didn’t know what I have already?
So while my husband went to battle with the stove, I grabbed my oldest daughter to help empty everything out of our cabinet. My youngest sat at the table playing with foam letters while my oldest sat down with a pencil and paper. I dictated her an inventory list of what we had and neatly organized odds and ends in a box. (What a great exercise in both handwriting AND spelling!)
Of course, we must take more breaks than normal due to the infant waking and needing to be fed (the post I’m writing now is on such break), but in the end it will feel good organizing and purging unneeded items.

BTW, how did our Thankful Turkeys come out? The kids made standing turkeys from empty frozen concentrated OJ containers while us adults made regular paper flat turkeys. One thing I did change from my original post was we used OJ containers instead of toilet paper rolls. They came out much sturdier.

I am taking a break from purging HUGE and completely overhauling our game room in prep for same. It is a huge job. My back is killing me. But it is sooo nice when its done, huh? I love the turkeys! I had plans to do the same but totally dropped the ball. :-(

I LOVE those turkeys! How wonderful… I’m writing this down to remember for next year.
Email me with your email address when you get a free second (ha ha!) and I’ll tell you about my ASL adventures. In short, I love it! But, it is harder than I thought it would be. Rewarding though for sure!! :-)
Your craft closet is amazingly clean, I’m happily jealous of you! All my craft stuff is my and my hubby’s office in big tupperware boxes. Organized but my office looks like Public Storage!
