Thankful Turkeys

Two years ago we made these Thankful Turkeys. We sat down at Thanksgiving dinner and did these together as a family.
For the body and head, cut out 2 circles out of brown construction paper, one large and the other smaller. Cut another brown circle and cut the circle in half. These will be your wings. For feathers, I let my daughter choose different colored paper to cut several long oval shapes. We choose 6 feathers for our turkeys. We cut out a red tear drop for the and glued a folded a small diamond shaped orange construction paper over it for the beak. Finally make some feet and add some googly eyes, and you have a turkey!
In the middle, we wrote: ” [name] is thankful for… ” and each feather had one thing we were thankful for. It was a wonderful way to focus on the things we are thankful.
This year, we intend on doing the same thing but using toilet paper rolls for the bodies instead. :DÂ Edited to Add: See our 2007 Thankful Turkeys here >
